Word Stream – Poetry Open Mic Night Sudanese & Fundraiser!

February 27 @ 18:30 - 22:00

Join us on Tuesday 27th of February for our monthly Poetry Wordstream. As a Pan-African and Somali-centric Arts and Heritage organisation Numbi Art’s will be standing in solidarity with the Sudanese refugees facing ongoing challenges, and this event is aimed at raising funds to lend support. All proceeds from the ticket sales will go towards a fundraiser for Sudan Civil Emergencies Room. Food and drinks will be provided. For admission, we require all guests to please donate a minimum of £5 to our fundraiser below.

We are proud to welcome Al-Saddiq Al-Raddi, a distinguished Sudanese writer making significant contributions to contemporary Sudanese literature 📚. Al-Saadiq will grace our stage, sharing his work with our Numbi family. The day will also include an introduction to Numbi Arts and ‘Aroos’ – Numbi’s theme for 2024! 🎉

Numbi is embracing the new year with a fresh theme – Aroos, meaning ‘wedding’ in Arabic. We will explore and celebrate the rich traditions of weddings through the lens of fashion, highlighting themes of transition and unity. Stay tuned for a day of cultural exploration and artistic expression 🎨.

You can expect to learn more about the history behind such conflicts. To hear about the relationship between Sudan’s struggle and artistic expression, watch this video documenting the ‘Songs of Revolution’ 🎵🎶.
