NUMBI SUMMER FESTIVAL LAUNCH

How can art be a tool for environmental sustainability, ecology, social justice, well-being, non-violence and grassroots democracy?

An invitation for artists and special guests to collaborate with us on different
projects throughout the year to facilitate mutual learning alongside our
Numbi resident artists.
Our ongoing research and open archive is an exploration of how to
engage, create and collapse the notion of Somali stories and
self-representation. A collection of studies navigating how decades of war
and migration have forged the future for Somali artists who are
reconnecting with this complex history by placing ourselves in the ecology
of contemporary British culture. This research also serves as a curriculum, a
space for learning and cultivating a socially engaged arts practice.

By asking, “What does freedom mean to you?” we want our audience and
collaborators to be able to gain access to their most intimate fears, desires
and sense of belonging. We want you to dive into the deep.
