Sahra has self-released her debut single ‘Better Dream’ in June this year with her incredible band.
At 22 this young singer is redefining genres as she performs new compositions inspired by her musical upbringing. From Somali Jazz to Hip-hop and Soul SAHRA moves seemingly through styles and embracing her 3rd culture story.
SAHRA GURE is an upcoming singer, arranger and composer. Born in Berlin of mixed Somali and German heritage, SAHRA was brought up in Norwich before moving to London in 2015 to study Jazz Voice at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Her mixed background and prestigious schooling, alongside the training ground that is London, have shaped her to be a versatile performer, working across a range of genres. Collaborations have included working with Orphy Robinson, Cleveland Watkiss, The Dele Sosimi Afrobeat Orchestra, Ashley Henry and many more. With performances at Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Jazz Café, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Dimensions Festival and WOMAD to name a few.
Having self-released her debut single ‘BETTER DREAM’ in June this year SAHRA is stepping away from collaborations and coming in to her own with her Jazz/Neo-Soul compositions created and shaped with her incredible band.
Expect to be taken on a musical journey with songs to make you cry, laugh and dance as SAHRA celebrates her Somali heritage performing her original songs plus new material written especially for this occasion.
