Expect an afternoon of carefully crafted workshops including…

Digital storytelling with Smartphone Video:

The three-hour workshop will cover the technical and narrative aspects of shooting, recording and editing video using smartphones with Imran Azam from This is Reel and Urban Affinity.

DJ Workshop for Womxn:

In light of sheer absence, under-representation or a merely passive visibility of womxn in the music industry – as listeners, audience, fans, dancers, groupies, muses, vocal samples, and so forth – the DJ Workshops for Womxn want to encourage alternative ways for self-determined, thriving and joyful action of women, femme, feminizied and gender non-binary persons.

The DJ Workshops for Womxn offer alternatives to the music industry’s ancient darling, the self-centred and intentionally inaccessible figure of the patriarchal DJ-god. The workshops unapologetically centralize collectiveness over the hyper-individual: Last night we saved our lives, ourselves and each other.

The workshops aim to be a meeting space for womxn of all persuasions, genders and ages, skilled beginners and bloody experts. To learn and experiment with technology, software and skills – which is a conversation we do not often have, amongst ourselves or with cis male colleagues.

The DJ workshop is hosted by Maria Guggenbichler and Amal Alhaag (www.sideroom.org)

Studio portraiture session sourced from migrant families:

Creating a space for attendees to be transported back in time and reflect on the importance of family photos to send back home. Please come dressed to impress and ready to pose with Asma Kabadeh, Hodan Elmi and Nadyah Aissa.

At 7pm there will be live performances kicking off with our Numbi and RNR retreat showcase with Sai Murray, film Screening, Dj set ending with a ceremonial musical and spoken word tribute to the iconic Marianne Joan Elliott-Said, known by the stage name Poly Styrene, musician, singer-songwriter, and frontwoman for the punk rock band X-Ray Spex.

Numbi Arts works towards nurturing local and global conversations. We work collaboratively to create platforms where diverse voices are celebrated. We are achieving this by producing events and workshops, such as this Numbi Arts Festival.

Join us on the 21st of July 2018 between 12pm-12am to discover the wonders of the Numbi Arts Festival #numbifest2018… This is not something to be missed!
